The ‘WND’ conference Didactics of Physics

Since 1966, the Board of the Foundation Working group Didactics of Physics (Dutch: Werkgroep Natuurkunde Didactiek -> WND) has organized the annual ‘WND’ conference Didactics of Physics. Up to and including 1975 this conference was held at the Woudschoten conference centre near Zeist, in the centre of Holland. Because of the ever-increasing number of delegates, more spacious accommodation had to be found after that. From 1978, the venue became conference centre ‘de Leeuwenhorst’ at Noordwijkerhout (near Leyden). There, every year on the Friday and Saturday one week before the Christmas vacation, 400 to 500 delegates work intensively on their specialty. These delegates are Physics teachers in secondary education, teacher-trainers and trainee teachers, lab assistants, inspectors, researchers in the field of the teaching methodology of Physics, developers of teaching materials and publishers … In short: people who are fascinated by the development of knowledge and skills among secondary school students of Physics.

The conference programme consists of lectures, workshops and a fair.

Post-graduate education

The annual ‘WND’ conference is an acknowledged post-graduate activity. This means that delegates can apply for funding at their school or institute.
