The Digital Media and Learning Competition, created in 2007, was designed to find "and to inspire" the most novel uses of new media in support of learning. Projects explore how digital technologies are changing the way people learn and participate in daily life. Awards have recognized individuals, for-profit companies, universities, and community organizations using new media to transform learning.

2010 - III

  • Reimagining Learning and there are two types of awards:
    • 21st Century Learning Lab Designers
    • Game Changers

Aligned with National Lab Day as part of the White House's Educate to Innovate Initiative. Awards will be made for learning environments and digital media-based experiences that allow young people to grapple with social challenges through activities based on the social nature, contexts, and ideas of science, technology, engineering and math.

2008 - II

The 2008 Competition, which focuses on participatory learning, includes a new category for U.S. applicants—Young Innovators—and for the first time opens eligibility for a separate Innovation category to a list of pilot countries: Canada, India, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, Nigeria, The People's Republic of China, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
