Bio sketch

Since 1993, I have been working at the Freudenthal Institute, in several projects on mathematics education for secondary education, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Since 1995, I have been involved in the Mathematics A-lympiad, as coordinator (until 2001) and as member of the A-lympiad Committee, a group of experts who construct open ended assignments for pre-university students. These yearly assignments are intended to train and test the 'problem solving' -skills of the students.

From 2001-2003 I worked in the Philippines in teacher education at the University of San Carlos, Cebu City, developing and strenghtening the curriculum for Math Ed.

Since 2003,I work in projects in Indonesia (implementing Realistic Mathematics Education in primary schools) and Ghana (enhancing teacher education for Science and Mathematics for secondary school at two different universities in Ghana).

Since 2003, I also work in teacher education for secondary schools at the Hogeschool Utrecht.
