Bio sketch

Julianna Szendrei is one of the leading designers and design project leaders in Hungarian mathematics education. Building on her early work with the distinguished mathematicians Tamás Varga and C. Neményi Eszter, she has since been lead author of a wide range of teaching materials, particularly for younger children. She is now Head of Department of Mathematics of Eötvös Loránd University's Faculty of Elementary and Nursery School Teacher Training in Budapest. Her current international roles include the Presidency of CIEAEM, the International Commission for the Study and Improvement of Mathematics Education, and Hungarian delegate on the Group “Mathematics, Science and Technology” of the EU's Lifelong Learning Policy Development initiative. She is Secretary of the new Hungarian project for the improvement of mathematics education (suliNova-mathematics) She is a member of the ISDDE Executive.
