General

If we look at the learning principles coming from games and game technology, how could mathematics education benefit from these strong 'learning' environments? Do games contribute to mathematical literacy in some aspect (number sense, spatial sense?)

  • Why do children play (computer) games at home?
  • What is a good 'educational' game?
  • What is the role of teachers and parents?

We can learn good learning principles from games and game designers, principles that can be implemented in school curricula. Second, we can use games and game technology in schools to greatly increase deep understanding, not as stand-alone entities, but as part of a whole curriculum.
